Building a better shop cabinet
►GET THE PLANS:
www.diymontreal.com/product/swing-out-wall-cabinet-with-sliding-doors-pdf-build-plans/
I have been looking for a way to store more of my small power tools in the garage rather than in my basement, so I designed and built this unique storage cabinet. It has sliding doors and double depth storage: swing out shelves at the front, and adjustable shelves at the rear. This extra deep wall cabinet has been optimized to maximize storage. It's a different kind of shop cabinet… A shop storage cabinet like you’ve never seen before!

And with that, gained a lot more experience and came up with a much simpler process. You ...

Impressive amount of testing you did. And you're lucky you didn't end up with an injury. I don't think it's really a fair comparison though, you went for the entry level drills from each brand, but the brands are pointed at different targets. Ryobi is pointed at homeowners, not tradesmen, so it's no surprise that their entry drill was underpowered. Dewalt & Milwaukee - aimed at the trades and it shows with both the price and the performance. It would be interesting to compare the high end Ryobi that has specs that match the Dewalt and see how it performs - it's still $100 cheaper than the Dewalt and claims similar specs.

And coming from the 3D printing world and being good at DIY, you then realize you can build a 50W Co2 one for the price of a diode one. Takes a while but it will do all the things you want from it and you can always upgrade, repair and replace everything you want. But I do realize that that route sure isn't for everyone.
